How to Change the Date on Squarespace Blog Post

If you couldn't tell, this very blog post I'm writing is published on Squarespace. I dig the platform, and with their continued updates in 2023, its LoveGood's continued choice for website design services and blogging.

Anyways, you're here because you, too, are an avid blogger on the platform (or wish to become one) and want to know how to change the blog date in Squarespace. It's super simple to do (it takes literally two minutes!) and a valuable practice to implement for reasons I'll soon discuss.

As a quick side note, if you're ever interested in passing over the responsibility of blogging, our SEO Blog Writing and Blog Publishing Services are a proven method to increase your website growth via the culmination of creative content. Or, if you're eager to do it yourself, I also offer 1-on-1 blog coaching to help you grow your business via blogging or teach you how to monetize a personal blog!

So, with no further ado, here's a step-by-step, with included pictures, to change a Squarespace blog date on desktop and mobile platforms.

How to Change the Blog Date on SquareSpace Desktop

It's as easy as:

  1. Head to Squarespace.com and log in or make an account (they offer 14-day free trials!) and go to your 'account dashboard.'

2. Click the 'Website' button next to the site you wish to edit.

3. From here, locate the navigation panel on the left side of your Squarespace dashboard. Again, click on 'Website'.

4. Underneath the Main Navigation, click "Blog" or "Journal" to take you to your blog's main dashboard.

5. From your list of blog posts on the left side of the screen, click the three dots on the right of the post you wish to edit the date and head to 'Settings".

6. Now that you're on the blog post settings dashboard click "Options".

7. You'll now see a Calendar at the bottom of the options. From here, you can change the blog's published date on Squarespace by simply clicking on the year, month, day, and even the exact time you wish to show it as published!

8. Here is also where you can change a blog post from draft to published or schedule your post to publish at a later date in the future!

9. With the new date set, make sure to click "Save" on the top left of the dashboard.

10. Exit the dashboard and go to your live blog URL to ensure all changes are accurately saved and reflected on your website. If so, you've successfully changed the date on your Squarespace blog!

How to Change the Blog Date on Squarespace Mobile

Assuming you've already got the Squarespace IOS or Android application downloaded, just tap the app from your home screen and:

  1. From the Squarespace app Home, click the "Pages" button located on the bottom of your screen, the second icon from the left.

2. On the Pages screen, click on either "Blog" or "Journal" located underneath the Main Navigation menu. If you don't see it, it might be found below in your unlinked pages (meaning the blog URL isn't live), or you need to create the blog page. To add a blog page, click "Add" and then "Blog" underneath Collections.

3. You're now on your blog dashboard, where you can see your live and drafted pieces. From here, click directly onto the blog with the date you wish to change!

4. Your blog page will now load, and you will click the “Three Dots” on the upper right-hand corner of the screen next to the "EDIT" button.

5. From the options that load, click "Page Settings".

6. Underneath the CONTENT section, click the arrow on the right of the "Post Status" button.

7. A page featuring your blog's current status (draft, published, or scheduled) and a calendar will load. Simply click any past date to set it as the published date for your blog, while setting a date in the future will schedule the blog to go live automatically on the chosen day.

8. You're not finished yet! After setting the new date, click "BACK" on the upper left side of the screen.

9. To finalize the blog's date change, click "SAVE" on the upper right side of the screen.

10. Load your website's blog URL to ensure changes have been properly saved + reflected on your live site.
